Areas such as Apapa GRA, Creek Road, Marine Road, and Liverpool Road feature a blend of corporate offices, high rise buildings, and serene residential streets. Apapa is not only a residential and commercial hub but also a major industrial center, hosting several prominent companies such as the Dangote Group, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and numerous international shipping lines with offices or warehouses in the area. Its strategic location also makes it a vital transport link, connecting Lagos Island to the mainland through the Apapa Oshodi Expressway and Eko Bridge, facilitating the movement of goods and people across Lagos and beyond.
Locating Apapa Lagos
Apapa is bordered by Surulere, Lagos Island, and Ajeromi Ifelodun (Ajegunle/Olodi Apapa). The main entry routes include the Apapa Oshodi Expressway, Eko Bridge, and Marine Beach Road. Though traffic congestion especially from trucks is common, improvements in road infrastructure and the introduction of port access reforms are gradually easing movement in and out of the area.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) headquarters, major shipping companies, and logistics firms are all based in Apapa, making it the most commercially strategic district in Lagos and West Africa’s busiest port zone.
Nigeria has several key seaports beyond Apapa that drive the country’s trade. Tin Can Island Port in Lagos handles containers and general cargo alongside Apapa. In the Niger Delta, Port Harcourt and Onne Ports focus on oil, gas, and heavy cargo, while Warri and Sapele Ports manage crude oil, petroleum products, and agricultural exports.
Calabar Port in the southeast handles containers and bulk goods, supporting crossborder trade. The new Lekki Deep Offshore Port in Lagos is designed for larger ships that cannot access Apapa, strengthening Nigeria’s position in maritime trade.

Apapa GRA- This is the most upscale and serene part of Apapa. It features well planned streets, beautiful homes, and good security.
