Runtown was born in Enugu, Nigeria, but spent part of his early years in Abuja and Lagos after his father passed away. He later moved to Abuja with his mother, who was a government worker. He developed an interest in music at a young age and started making music while still in school.

He attended St. Augustine’s Seminary in Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi State, before moving to Lagos to pursue his music career. Runtown also studied Fashion Management at a university in New York, United States.

Music Career

Runtown began his professional music career in 2007 but gained major recognition in 2014 with the release of his hit single "Gallardo" featuring Davido. The song won the Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In 2015, he released his debut studio album, "Ghetto University," which featured collaborations with notable artists like Wizkid, Davido, and Phyno. The album was a commercial success and earned him a strong fanbase across Africa.

Record Label and Independence

Initially signed to Eric Many Entertainment, Runtown had a legal battle with the label, which led to his departure. He later founded his own record label, Soundgod Music Group, in 2018, giving him more creative control over his music. Runtown was still signed under Dilly Umenyiora (Eric Many Entertainment)
